Striving for female empowerment in the field of Technology in Pakistan
HCC Technology Foundation
Founded in 2021, the Foundation strives for female empowerment in Pakistan in the field of Technology. It’s time to give back to our community in the most meaningful way, imparting the knowledge and tricks of the trade that we have learned over the past 20 years in the field of technology.
As part of HCC‘s vision, we aim to create an ecosystem supporting Technology literacy focusing on female inclusion in this booming Technology sector of Pakistan.
LET US IMAGINE … How far Pakistan could go if 50 percent of our Gen Z population are provided a level playing field.
OUR AIM to bridge and close the gender gap in the field of technology by 2030.
WHAT IS MISSING?
Pakistan currently has the largest generation of young people in its history, with about two-thirds of the total population under 30 years of age.
The Youth Cohort - 15-29 years of age, forms nearly a third of the country's total population. (UNDP Report on Pakistan 2018)
Women constitute 49 percent of the population, but they constitute only 24 percent of the labor force. (UNDP Report on Pakistan 2018)
Pakistan has a female youth bulge coming out in the market place each year that will require marketable vocational skills to compete nationally and internationally.
CONNECTING THE DOTS
Software development is the fastest-growing field in Pakistan. The biggest challenge to the IT sector is the absence of effective co-op programs that showcase relevant skill sets and on-job training for students while they are still enrolled as students. (Pakistan Technology Survey of 2018)
As things standing, there will always be a disconnect between academia and industry.
OUR YEAR END GOAL
Education and on-the-job training programs for 120 girls on Coding and IOS/Android mobile application development
Targeting girls aged 17 to 24 years from low and middle-income backgrounds
Imparting soft business skills (English speaking and business writing)
Mentorship programs with female industry and academia leaders
Career placement and counselling sessions
HOW WILL WE DO IT?
Chosen candidates, will be awarded full scholarships to train under professional and international trainers for intensive software development programs.
Phase 1 – Course Training: From coding languages to RPA training, a three months training curriculum has been designed, led by established trainers along with tailor-made workshops on English language and business writing skills. We recognize that classroom training would not simply place our candidates in the most competitive workplace environment, hence the need for phase 2…
Phase 2 – Work training: After a successful three months training course, our candidates would progress to the next phase. On the job training experience by working under HCC Labs, an established software development house, on local and international projects.
Phase 3 – Career placements and guidance: HCC’s resource and career placement department will be the first touchpoint for applying in the market-place.
